Mount and Blade is an independent game, and its fairly crusty in appearance and features. However, Mount and Blade and its relatives are true historical battle simulations. You won't find High Elves throwing fireballs here. Instead, you might find Musketeers racing to reload their muskets, or light cavalry replacing their broken lances. The most popular form of this game simulates medieval warfare, starting at small warbands and ending at small armies. Strangely enough, this crusty little game has the best mounted combat engine I've ever seen.
